My Latest Investments: Amundi and Frasers Centrepoint Trust

Here’s a quick update on my recent investment activities.

Besides adding to my DBS Group Holdings (SGX: D05) last Tuesday, I also enacted my plan to purchase the Amundi Index MSCI World Fund with my CPF-OA funds.

Here’s a breakdown of the timeline for the Amundi purchase:

8 April (Tuesday) morning:Submitted the buy order.
9 April (Wednesday):Endowus processed the withdrawal from my CPF-OA.
11 April (Friday):Transaction completed.
15 April (Tuesday):Transaction details became available on the platform.

As you can see, the process took three business days, which was within expectations. However, I hadn’t factored in the significant US market rebound on Wednesday, triggered by the announcement of a 90-day pause on tariffs (excluding China).

The thought of potentially buying in at a higher price than I intended was irritating. In hindsight, waiting for the tariff plan’s implementation would be a better decision.

Thankfully, the market didn’t continue its upward trajectory, and the final purchase price for my first shot a the fund was still roughly 13% below its all-time high.

Furthermore, I took a cautious stance and reduced my initial investment tranche, deploying only a sixth of the planned amount instead of a fifth. This leaves me with more bullets for future opportunities, allowing for greater flexibility in these uncertain times.

Adding to last week’s activity, yesterday I applied for the preferential offer (PO) for Frasers Centrepoint Trust (SGX: J69U), or FCT. The PO price of S$2.05, significantly lower than the closing price of S$2.17, was tempting.

Despite the potential for a quick profit, I opted for a measured approach. Given the current market uncertainty, I only applied for double the amount allocated to me, meaning I don’t need to inject additional capital.

I’ll decide later whether to sell the FCT PO for a small gain or hold it for the long-term dividend income.
