Disney+ and Hulu to start removing shows next week

The Walt Disney Co. will start removing titles from its Disney+ and Hulu streaming services next week.

Vulture first reported details of the purge late Thursday, involving at least 27 titles, including the Disney+ fantasy series “Willow,” a follow-up to the 1988 movie, which premiered in November; “Pistol,” Hulu’s 2022 biographical miniseries about the Sex Pistols; and Hulu’s 2021 post-apocalyptic drama “Y: The Last Man.”

Additional shows could be removed next week, and more shows are expected to be dropped from the platforms in the future.

“We will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms, and currently expect to take an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion,” she said.
